Approximately 7 Hours
The Full-Day Internalization Ladder™ Institute moves participants from understanding the framework to deep application of the complete internalization process.
Educators work through The Internalization Ladder™ using their own standards, curriculum, and upcoming instruction. Participants analyze the standard and cognitive demand, clarify evidence of mastery, make expert thinking visible, plan direct and explicit modeling, design intentional guided practice, anticipate student misconceptions and needed scaffolds, and identify independent evidence of learning.
The extended format provides time for facilitated modeling, collaborative analysis, application, feedback, reflection, and refinement. Participants leave with a deeper understanding of the internalization process and an internalized upcoming lesson they are prepared to teach with clarity and intention.
Participants will:
Apply the complete nine-step Internalization Ladder™ process
Analyze standards for knowledge, skills, and cognitive demand
Develop aligned learning targets, success criteria, and evidence of mastery
Make expert thinking visible through intentional modeling and think-alouds
Design guided practice that gradually develops student independence
Anticipate misconceptions, scaffolds, and instructional responses
Identify independent evidence that demonstrates student learning
Use evidence to reflect, refine, and reinternalize instruction
Collaboratively internalize an upcoming lesson using existing curriculum and instructional resources
Best for: schools and districts seeking deeper implementation, instructional teams, coaches, teacher leaders, and educators ready to embed lesson internalization into collaborative planning and daily practice.
